2 Nights on the Road in Virginia with Merle Haggard and Jamey Johnson

Friday July 23rd in Richmond, Va at the National Theater was Merle Haggard and the Strangers. Merle looked and sounded good. His band the Strangers was missing Don Markam and Biff Adams. I don't know if they are not touring anymore or just taking some time off. But Merle and the Band sounded great although Merle was on stage for 65 min. Some of the Songs he played was "That's the way love goes", "Mama Tried", "Okie" and many others including his last song from his new album "I am what i am" while he sat on a stool for the final.

The next night in Lynchburg, VA at Cattle Annies was Jamey Johnson and his band. Now i have been to many of concerts but I have never seen a county music show go over 3 hours without stopping in which Jamey and band did. The Grateful Dead yes, but a county rock show, never. He just kept playing and playing. He was 3 hours in and we were and hour and half away from home so we had to leave and the guy was still playing. Played all of his hits but the impressive thing about him was he played TONS of classic county. From Waylon, 4 Merle songs, George, Vern Gosdin, and some Patsy Cline. The guy just puts on a hell of a show.

Here are some picts of those two nights.
